June 2 Grand Evening Concert

Free Shipping: Yes

Experience the unsurpassed grandeur of the Wanamaker Organ as it only can be appreciated after store hours. Peter Richard Conte joins pianist Jeremy Filsell for the Rachmaninoff Paganini Variations and soprano Clara Rottsolk for Richard Strauss's profound Four Last Songs. Conte also performs Buxtehude's Chaconne from the orchestrated version by Carlos Chavez, as transcribed by Andrew Ennis, and Sigfrid Karg-Elert's "Nearer my God, to Thee", written just after the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. This Chorale-Improvisation captures a poignant moment in history, through a brilliant programatic work for organ solo. The Grand Evening Concert is the crowning event of our mostly-free Wanamaker Organ Day.

Here is a rare opportunity to hear the Wanamaker Organ with orchestra under ideal conditions. All tickets are General Admission. NOTE: NO PHYSICAL TICKETS WILL BE MAILED. We will have your name as a subscriber at our will-call desk at the store on concert day for admissions wristbands. We also suggest that you print your receipt and bring it with you, although it is not required for admission. The concert begins at 8 pm. All seats are General Admission. Concert details subject to change.
